Bitácora

Privacy policy

Last updated: 17 October 2026

Your diary is yours. It is stored on your devices and in your own private iCloud, where we cannot read it. No account, no ads, no analytics.

Who is responsible

Bitácora is an app developed by Luis Carvajal. For anything about this policy, write to bitacora@carvajal.io.

Where your diary is kept

Entries, recordings and photos are stored on your device and, if iCloud is on, in your private iCloud database, which only your Apple ID can access. We have no copy and no way to read it.

Voice transcription

Recordings are turned into text on your device using Apple's speech recognition. The audio is not sent to us.

Your location

When you create an entry, the app saves where you were with it. The location is stored with the entry, in the same places as the rest of your diary. To show the name of the place, Apple Maps receives the coordinates under Apple's privacy policy.

Private entries and Face ID

Face ID and your passcode are handled by iOS. The app only learns whether the check succeeded.

Apple Watch

Entries recorded on the watch are sent directly to your iPhone.

Version 2 and its online service

Versions up to 2.3 offered an optional sign-in and online backup. That service has been discontinued and version 3 does not connect to it. Diaries kept on the iPhone are moved into the new version on the first launch, without deleting anything.

What leaves your device

Only what goes to your own iCloud. Nothing reaches us.

What we do not do

No advertising, no tracking, no analytics, no selling or sharing of data with anyone.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever starts handling data differently, this page will say so before the update is released, with a new date at the top.

Your rights

Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. Deleting the app removes its data from your device. Questions are always welcome at bitacora@carvajal.io.
